Application inviata!

Ieri sera finalmente ho inviato l’Application!

L’attesa devastante. DEVASTANTE.

Dear host-family,
I’m Stefano Chiaromonte, the Italian student who is coming to visit the U.S. in an exchange program. I feel excited and also a bit proud of me because I’ve chosen to do this experience, during which I will know a new culture, new places, new habits, new food and, obviously, have the opportunity to practice my English. I think it will make me better.
Now I’d like to give you some details about me and my life. I’m a 16 Italian boy and I attend the third year at “Liceo Classico” in Italy. In my school we study a lot of classical subjects (Greek and Latin languages and literatures) and I must say that I’m very fond of classical culture.
In my family there are four people, my parents, my little sister and me. I love my family. We help each other and when someone is sad we always try to say sweets words. I think the most important thing in a family is mutual support. When they heard about my idea about the exchange program they were very happy and at the same moment sad (a bit worried?). However, they told me that I have to do my experience and they only wanted my happiness.
My mother is the most important person in my life. She and I share a lot of passions. For example we love cooking together. Actually, cooking is one of my favorite hobbies and sometimes I teach her some new recipes. This could be unusual, but it’s not so. I love Italian cooking but I can’t wait to try the American one, because trying international foods and learning to cook them is very important to me. My mother and I share the passion for the classical arts too. We usually visit museums together and we love doing this. My father and I love watching movies and we are very interested in electronics devices such as mobile phones or computers. My sister is eight. We fight sometimes but I love her a lot. We make some short movies sometimes. I’m the director and she is the actress.
I love taking photos too. I always try to find amazing places for my photos. Acting is another passion of mine. Unfortunately, the last time I had acted was three years ago because I’m always busy with school and my school doesn’t organize any acting courses. That’s why I would like to join drama club when I’ll be in the States.
I also like reading a lot. It’s one of my hobbies since I was a little kid. My favorite saga is Harry Potter. I’ve loved Harry Potter books and movies since I was four. Some months ago I’ve created an online radio about Harry Potter. I’m the speaker and I talk about Harry Potter and call some fans on air. It’s very funny but It’s also so demanding. (= impegnativo)
I like traveling a lot. I’ve visited France, Spain, Austria, Switzerland and I know my country very well. But I’ve never been to the USA and I’ve never taken an airplane. I can’t wait to know new places! I think it will be the best travel of my life!
I think the most important things in this new experience is courage. I think I’m courageous and ambitious too, and I’ve great projects for my life. I’m talkative and open-minded, never tired to learn new things and open to every kind of dialogue. I’m salacious and a bit irritable. I’m very neat and well ordered.
I’ve got a lot of friends, but I think only few of them are true ones. My best friend’s name is Gaia and l’ll miss her a lot, but I hope to make good friends in the States too. I’ll do it! I’m friendly and I don’t have any problem to make new friends!
Well, this is me, more ore less.
It will be difficult not to see my family for 10 months but I also know I’ll find an amazing host-family that will make me feel at home. I’m sure my future host-family will love me and I’ll love them. I’m sure that I’ll feel part of my future host-family! I will enjoy my time with them and it will be a fantastic experience.
I feel so excited while I’m writing this letter. I can’t wait to leave and start this new experience. I can’t wait to live American feast days and live like an American guy. I’m very bound to my family and I’ll be bound to my host-family too. I’m so happy right now and I think I’m very lucky. My American dream will come true thanks to my future host-family too. Bye

A little boy in a big world by Stefano Chiaromonte
